Hi, this is Dr. Nikhil Patel M.D. BSc. Founder of Proteinza.

1. More pizza for less calories

The 3 macronutrients (carbs, proteins, fats) contain a definite number of calories per gram.

Carbohydrates: 4 calories per gram (0.035 oz)
Protein: 4 calories per gram (0.035 oz)
Fat: 9 calories per gram (0.035 oz)

Proteinza is the most efficient for the calories gained per mass of food, so you can literally eat more for less calories!

2. Hits the spot better 
With Proteinza we have increased the protein content, whilst keeping the delicious toppings and bubbly, melting cheese to make it really hit the spot. This makes sure that Proteinza really hits your pizza cravings hard whilst keeping you on track with your nutrition/diet. Satiety is a measure of how full people feel after eating a certain food. Studies have shown that foods higher in protein and fat are more satisfying and keep you fuller for longer. 
3. Burns more calories

Every food has a Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). We can show the TEF depending on the macronutrient within the food. This is the amount of calories you burn getting the nutrition out of the food based on which nutrients it is made out of. The three major nutrients (macronutrients) are carbohydrates, fats and protein.

TEF of Carbohydrates: 5 – 15% of the energy consumed (sugars have lower TEF than starches)
TEF of Fat: at most 5 – 15% of the energy consumed
TEF of Protein: 20-35% of the energy consumed. 

Scenario 1: If you ate one slice of regular pizza – around 300 calories, due to it being mostly carbohydrates you would only burn an extra 30 calories getting the nutrition out of the food. An entire pizza is around 2000 calories. 

Scenario 2: If you ate half of an entire Proteinza – around 300 calories, due to it being mostly protein you would burn an extra 90 calories. An entire Proteinza is about 600 calories. You would burn an extra ~180 calories whilst eating Proteinza – taking you to a total calorie intake of 420 calories for the entire Proteinza.

4. Steady blood sugar

Maintaining a more steady blood sugar improves hunger and can help burn more fat . When your blood sugar rises fast and high your body goes into “fat storage mode”.  Protein dampens this response. Protein helps your blood sugar not go really high or really low – having a steady level throughout the day will keep you in a “fat burning” mode.

5. More muscle

Proteinza helps to maintain and build muscles. Muscle is one of the major factors in our metabolism, the engine that burns calories even if we are sitting on the sofa watching TV!  It is important to have a diet which delivers protein to help maintain/grow muscle and therefore maintain and grow your fat burning machine.

6. Pizza without the guilt

Proteinza is pizza! We have just hacked pizza by swapping the nutrition, whilst keeping the same delicious, satisfying taste. It replaces pizza but with far less calories, far less carbohydrates and a huge increase in protein.

Why we exist

We love pizza and we wanted to eat pizza more often. We wanted pizza to be healthy so we wouldn’t ruin our health whilst eating more pizza.  So we created Proteinza.
